Players should expect the following behaviors from the GMs:
Posts on time 3x weekly (MWF evenings).
A notification of delayed posting time
If there's no post on a single thread, please ask in case a post got lost.
Similarly, replies to emails to the GM on regular schedule, even if it's only an acknowledgement that we got the mail. Sometimes we have to talk about things or look things up.
GM help with temporary breaks and hiatuses and returning from them.
GM resolution for crossposts or continuity errors (though please feel free to point out continuity errors; sometimes we really do put Caine in two places at once)
GMs to adhere to the safety rules and to assist players who invoke the safety rules
The GMs to describe the world and the actions fairly and honestly based on what the characters can perceive. The characters are Amberites and pretty smart, so they can see and notice a lot. There are some cases where a PC may need a special power or gift to notice something, but for the most part, what you see is what you get. Related, for the GMs to clarify any questions the players have about what their characters see and know fairly and honestly.
Action posts that don't overrun player decisions. (e.g., if Martin doesn't go into the room, the GMs won't assume he did and have the guy on the ceiling jump him.)
Character sheets updated in a timely fashion and used when needed for card draws/Magic formula/etc.
Character experience allotted fairly to current active players and assistance in using points to improve the character.
Attention to the player's goals for the character and the character's goals for themself, including putting the character into situations that forward those goals.
The GMs expect the following behaviors from the players:
Regular replies to list posts from GMs and other players in the same thread, usually 3x weekly. Alternatively, notice of hiatus, as needed.
Notice of any missing posts from a round or missing replies from the GMs.
Notice of any factual or continuity errors that the players notice so the GMs can correct them.
Clear and honest description of what the character is doing, saying, and thinking. In particular, honesty in internal monologues.
Clear action posts that the GM can resolve. (e.g., "Martin opens the door and goes through." or "Martin opens the door and looks in." vs an unclear post with a subjunctive verb structure like "Martin would open the door.")
Clear forward motion in posts that gives the GM something to respond to: action, requests for additional information ("Martin looks around." or "Merlin looks with his Third Eye.").
Character sheets corrected and updated in a timely fashion:
Character sheets updated as needed for items like trumps obtained.
Experience allotted and recorded in a timely fashion when awarded by the GMs.
Clear description of the player's goals for the character and the character's goals for themself so the GMs can forward those goals and develop the overall plot of the game.
